What do you need to know before starting your Jiu Jitsu journey?
Well first thing's first; you have to be OK with getting close to other people. We can't do what we do without being near each other. Once you are OK with that, you will need to satisfy a number of conditions.
1: You must be either an active student of UCLAN, a former student (alumni) or a member of university staff.
2: After the taster sessions you will need to join the Jiu Jitsu Club. This is a once a year fee and has been frozen at £15 and is done through our SU page here.
3: After a week or two, you will need to get yourself a Jiu Jitsu Foundation license and insurance. This is £35 and is paid yearly. We will let you have the forms etc to do this after you have made the correct decision to stay.
4: Get yourself a nice shiny new gi (the big white pyjamas you will see us wearing at the sessions). If you already have a plain white gi (no labels or patches) you can wear that.
