Sensei Martin Shaw - 1st Kyu - Lead Instructor Preston jiu jitsu
Martin started training in Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu in 2004. After seeing only 20 minutes of a session, Martin was committed and has been with Preston ever since. His special interest area is wrist work, as he feels that all Jitsu can be done from this joint if enough thought is put into the technique.
Martin started helping out with the junior club nearly 10 years ago, even bringing 3 of his nephews to the club. In total Martin has assisted 3 instructors with the junior club.
In 2016 when the last instructor stepped down, Martin stepped up earning his 1st Kyu (Brown belt) and taking over the club. Martin’s dynamic teaching has enabled the Preston Junior Jitsu club’s continuously successful grading and competition results.
For the last few years Martin has also organised the national junior competitions. An experience he has described as very rewarding.
